It is, perhaps, fitting that it was the Chairman himself that won the Chairman’s Challenge Cup with a total of 35 points, although going from Pink Shirt to top spot is something of a surprise! Richard Stainer was a point behind with his second successive runners up finish, while Garry Doyle completed the podium positions a further point back.

Results – The Players’ Trophy

Game 4 – Trentham Park Golf Club – 21st June 2026

Top Marks as Mark Taylor won Game 4 following on from Mark Langford’s win in Game 3.

It was a rare “over par” victory, a combination of the extreme heat and a challenging track at Trentham Park, with two players sharing the winning total of 34 points, with Mark taking the top spot on the podium on countback from chairman Garry Elwell. It was a close game overall with just three points separating the top seven.

Mark Langford managed to cope admirably with the changeable conditions to win by a point from Mark Griffiths. Tony Beards completed the top three on countback, his second successive 3rd-placed finish.

Game 2 – Bewdley Pines Golf Club – 26th April 2026

Debutant Andy WIlkinson claimed victory at Bewdley Pines, although only on countback from Richard Stainer despite recording 42 points. Tony Beards came in 3rd four points behind the leaders with the chasing back a further point behind.
